FAQs

How do I choose a hair removal device for my clinic?

Making the decision to offer laser and IPL hair removal in your clinic is easy, but deciding which device is right for your business can be complicated and time consuming.

A wide range of wavelengths in the visible and near infrared spectrum can be used, which is why there is an array of both lasers and IPL devices suitable for hair removal treatments. While all wavelengths used for laser/ IPL hair removal are suitable for the removal of the hair itself, they are not all necessarily appropriate for all skin types. This post in Aesthetics Medicine explains more. Look at your demographics and choose a system which allows you to treat as many skin types as possible. If you wish to expand into other treatment areas like skin rejuvenation, choose a laser or IPL which comes as part of a system platform where you can add handpieces as and when you wish to increase your portfolio of treatments.

Choosing a good laser and IPL equipment supplier is absolutely key in terms of the quality of the machine, your treatment outcomes, the reputation of your clinic and ultimately, the success of your business.

Consider the training that comes with the hair removal device. In addition to initial training, a good equipment supplier will provide excellent on-going clinical support and further advanced hair removal training, not only for tips on getting the best possible treatment outcomes, but for if and when things go wrong. Your equipment should come with medical protocols, written by an expert healthcare practitioner (EHCP), as these will form the basis upon which your insurance is provided. In addition they should be able to provide you with a laser protection advisor (LPA), which is also a requirement if you are Care Quality Commission-registered (CQC). Lastly, while not essential, choose a laser/ IPL supplier with an active customer forum or group where you can tap into a wealth of clinical knowledge and support, whose members are only too keen to help and impart their knowledge to you.

How long does it take to perform a hair removal treatment on a full leg with the EXCELIGHT®?

We would usually advise on average that it would take 25-35 minutes to treat an entire leg for hair removal.

How much can I charge for hair removal treatment & what will be the ROI from my machine?

The cost of laser hair removal treatment in the UK varies. Over recent years technology has come on in leaps and bounds to give faster, more effective hair removal on a wider range of skin types, especially at Lynton!  We encourage our practitioners to get clients to consider more than just the price of a single treatment but the value and quality of that treatment. In most cases with laser hair removal a client will find that they get what you pay for. Higher prices indicate:

  • Up to date technology delivering fast, efficient, and pain-free treatments.
  • Thoroughly trained experienced staff.
  • Thorough consultation prior to treatment.
  • Good levels of cleanliness and professionalism.
  • Quality clinic with good reputation.

Low prices and ‘too good to be true deals’ should ring alarm bells as this generally indicates that corners are being cut.

Understanding the return on investment for your laser hair removal machine will be important for your business to generate regular customers and revenue. The price charged for hair removal is very dependent on the size of the area which you are treating. Prices can range from £40-£400. Small areas like chin, upper lip, armpits, or forehead typically cost about £85 each session. Larger areas like your legs might cost anywhere between £100 and £200 depending on whether calves, knees, or thighs or entire leg is treated. The chest, abdomen, and back are the most involved areas and can cost up to £350.

For example a single hair removal treatment may cost around:

  • £85 for the upper lip
  • £110 for under the arms
  • £130 for the bikini line
  • £270 for the arms

Data sourced from NHS.

Many other factors are going to affect the prices you can charge such as the size and reputation of your clinic, your expertise, and where you’re located. (Prices will vary depending on the local competition).

What makes the LUMINA® stand out above other multifunctional IPL & Laser platforms?

The LUMINA® has a number of unique features, including its patented power supply which can support an Active Q-Switched tattoo removal articulated arm rather than having this in a handpiece form. This is clinically proven to clear pigment much faster by breaking the ink into smaller particles through higher peak power capability. The Addition of the 650 Advanced Hair Removal handpiece will combine the LUMINA’s high power output with optimal efficiency for greater hair removal results on finer lighter hairs. The LUMINA® is manufactured in the UK which means parts and engineers are readily available.

Expansion of Premises to Facilitate Entry into Export Markets

To facilitate its entry into new export markets, Lynton Lasers Ltd required increased manufacturing space, as well as new demonstration and training facilities. To this end, LEADER Funding was applied for, and won, to support the refurbishment of an adjacent business unit (Unit 9d) as well as the re-arrangement and refurbishment of the existing business unit (Unit 6) on Holmes Chapel Business Park.
