Downtime is dependent on the chosen treatment, the SmartXide CO₂ can perform superficial (CoolPeel) and ablative skin resurfacing. 

With a moderate-to-severe treatment setting, patients can expect to have swelling and redness for four days, with sunburn-like redness by day five.

Following a CoolPeel treatment, it is common for patients to experience some minor redness similar to a sunburn, but this redness should not interfere with routine activities. Patients are encouraged to wear SPF 50 after the treatment.
