FAQs

What is the downtime for skin resurfacing?

Downtime is dependent on the chosen treatment, the SmartXide CO2 can perform superficial (CoolPeel) and ablative skin resurfacing.

With a moderate-to-severe treatment setting, patients can expect to have swelling and redness for four days, with sunburn-like redness by day five.

Following a CoolPeel treatment, it is common for patients to experience some minor redness similar to a sunburn, but this redness should not interfere with routine activities. Patients are encouraged to wear SPF 50 after the treatment. As the skin recovers, hydration is important, the skin can feel dry as your skin works to shed its dead skin cells and collagen production is increased, however, you will begin to see brighter and healthier skin within a week or two following treatment.

With the SmartXide the amount of downtime needed after CO2 laser resurfacing can be completely customised based on your patient’s unique needs.

What can I charge for skin resurfacing treatments?

Medical practitioners can adjust their pricing to the level and type of treatments performed. Prices vary from anywhere between around £800-£1200 per session for resurfacing treatments.

What is the difference between CO2 laser resurfacing and CoolPeel?

For patients who would prefer the benefits of CO2 laser resurfacing via CoolPeel treatments or traditional CO2 laser resurfacing treatments, the power of CO2 can be leveraged for anyone. CoolPeel is an innovative way to enjoy similar benefits of CO2 laser resurfacing treatments without the downtime and risks. Traditional CO2 laser resurfacing treatments are still ideal for patients seeking dramatic results in as few treatments as possible. For patients looking to reduce deeper wrinkles or severe texture issues caused by scars or other signs of ageing, traditional CO2 laser treatments are an excellent choice to deliver dramatic results. Superficial and ablative treatments can be performed by the SmartXide family of lasers.

How does fractional laser skin resurfacing work?

Minute sections of the skin are targeted with laser light, which penetrates into the tissue causing small columns of thermal damage which in turn stimulates significant collagen renewal. The surrounding non-affected areas of skin aid the body’s natural recovery process, allowing dramatic results without significant downtime.

What can the Smartxide Touch treat?

The SmartXide Touch laser is a state-of-the-art ablative fractional laser offering highly advanced skin resurfacing treatments, including rejuvenation on all types of scarring (e.g.acne scarring), pigmentation and dyschromia.
