Experts in Aesthetics - The Technology to Transform
Blepharitis can cause Dry Eye. The likelihood of Dry Eye increases with age as tear production tends to decrease. There are other factors too, including hormonal, caused by things like the menopause, or environmental such as extended screen use or contact wearers, and many more. At Lynton we can offer a solution to manage this using IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). This non-invasive solution for those suffering from dry, irritated eyes can now be managed with a course of IPL treatments. Lynton provides both the Dynamix (3Juve), Lumina and Excelight for IPL treatment.
Non-invasive
IPL is a non-surgical, non-drug option for reducing the symptoms Dry Eye.
Quick Treatment with Minimal Downtime
Enjoy the convenience of fast treatment sessions, with minimal discomfort and downtime.
Effective Treatment
Using IPL system provides a treatment for Dry Eye, reducing inflammation and promoting healing. Many patients report long-term relief from symptoms after a series of IPL treatments.
With IPL technology available in several products, Lynton customers can experience significant relief from dry eye symptoms, all in a comfortable, professional setting. IPL can be used to achieve the following outcomes:
Photomodulation Effect
In Dry Eye the mitochondria can become less effective overtime. IPL can have a photo modulation effect, revitalising the mitochondria to make them more effective, stimulating cell activity and improving the health of the skin around the eye’s lids.
Reduced Inflammation
The IPL can reduce inflammation of the eyelids and reduce the release of histones that dilate and distort the blood vessels near the meibomian glands.
Improved Meibomian Gland Function
Another cause behind Dry Eye is a build-up of waxy secretion that solidifies in the meibomian gland. The heat from the IPL can make these lipids more flowable, improve the meibomian secretions and reduce tear salt concentration.
Reduction of Demodex Mites
IPL can reduce the number of Dermodex Mites (microscopic pathogens found on the skin and eyelashes) and eliminate them, which can improve the symptoms of dry eye and rosacea.
Collagen Tightening
The added benefit of IPL is collagen tightening that can reduce wrinkles in the eye area.
IPL emits bursts of light with specific wavelengths (due to filters) that are absorbed by the blood vessels beneath the skin. These wavelengths can reduce inflammation of the eyelids as the light pulses cause small blood vessels in the skin to constrict or collapse. This helps reduce the blood flow, decreasing inflammation. Ultimately leading to IPL helping to minimise the chronic irritation in the eyelid area.
IPL pulses also create heat, which heats the skin around the eyelids. This warms the meibomian glands that produce the oily layer of tears. This heat softens the hard, waxy oil within these glands, allowing it to flow more freely and preventing gland blockages.
There are multiple symptoms associated with Dry Eye. It can include:
IPL can manage a number of issues and concerns associated with Dry Eye. It is non-invasive, generally well tolerated and has minimal downtime. It offers effective relief of symptoms by targeting underlying issues for longer-term relief.

IPL therapy usually requires a series of treatments (often 3-4 sessions) spaced several weeks apart. Many clients notice improvements after just one session, however, a tailored treatment plan may involve multiple visits for optimal results.
IPL uses a unique combination of wavelengths to reduce inflammation, creates heat to help improve the flow of any blockages in the meibomian glands and stimulate tear production, improving overall tear film quality.
