What Is IPL? Delve Into LUMINA® By Lynton

5th July 2023

What is IPL? Lynton Lumina IPL Device

They might be popular but there are some people out there who will still ask you about intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments. What is IPL? What can it be used for and why is it so popular? There are a multitude of questions that you might face when introducing a new IPL device to your clinic but, thanks to Lynton, you’ll be able to answer all of them with ease! This is thanks to the training you’ll receive from our award-winning team of clinical trainers when you purchase your new Lynton IPL device.

Read on to learn more about this versatile treatment option that needs to feature in your clinic!

What Is IPL?

Firstly, although we feel it goes without saying, we wanted to say that professional IPL devices are not to be confused with the at-home alternatives that are readily available over the counter. When asking ‘What is IPL?’ it’s important to differentiate between the two. The devices that aesthetics practitioners have access to are much more effective and efficient at producing positive results than high street alternatives, which is why it’s important to highlight this to patients who are hesitant about receiving treatment.

If your patients want to know what IPL is, the answer is quite simple! It’s a light-based treatment that uses pulses of light at different wavelengths to treat various concerns including excess hair (it can be great for those with hirsutism), acne and ageing skin.

Some IPL treatments are similar in function to lasers. For example, in hair removal both IPL and laser direct light energy towards the pigmentation in hair that causes a burst of heat, which damages the cells that cause hair growth. This process is called selective photothermolysis. Whilst IPL and laser are alike in some ways, they are, in fact, quite different. You can learn more about the differences between IPL and laser by clicking here.

The professional vs at-home debate, however, is one you may continue to have with your patients. Although the reduced price point might be tempting at first, superior results are always worth visiting a professional for. Not only will said results be visible after fewer sessions (6 on average) but permanent hair reduction after 1 year is also more significant (up to 90% as opposed to 50%-80%). When choosing a device to meet your patients’ needs, you need to turn to Lynton, the UK’s leading IPL and laser manufacturer.

Choose Lynton, Choose LUMINA®

We’d like to introduce you to LUMINA®! It has the ability to target your patients’ concerns with ease. Not just an IPL device, LUMINA® also has laser capabilities. What’s more, it’s a truly versatile device that can offer over 24 different streams of revenue (including hair removal, tattoo removal, skin rejuvenation, and more), which makes it perfect for both new and established clinics alike.

Both patients and practitioners love LUMINA® but don’t just take it from us! Patient Sophie Smith visited her local Lynton clinic and asked ‘What is IPL?’ and Usman Farooqi, the manager of Lux Laser and Beauty Clinic, gave her the answers she was looking for! He then went on to recommend LUMINA® treatment. She found out more and was pleased that she did! She even said that she ‘would recommend these treatments to anyone.’

No matter what treatment option you pick, we have no doubt that your patients will love their results! Don’t forget that our amazing illumiFacial® can also be performed with LUMINA®! If someone is getting ready for a holiday or big event, this treatment will ensure their skin is ready for their next close-up.

Next time your patients ask ‘what is IPL’, you’ll have the answers and the device to direct them to.
