But the new kid on the block, Onda, the latest launch from Lynton Lasers is putting a stop to orange peel with its clever Coolwaves system. The innovative microwave technology which took scientists 25 years to perfect, is delivered to lumpy areas by what looks like a small hand-held torch; bypassing the upper layers of the skin and in doing so, delivering more energy to the subcutaneous fat cells, where it works to break down localised fat pockets and cause apoptosis or ‘cell death’. It also stimulates the connective tissue, helping to smooth the appearance of wobble, while causing collagen fibers in the dermis to contract and become more compact: thus tightening and toning the skin. It takes roughly 30 minutes per area to treat – and best of all, you can lie down and take a nap while it’s all happening.
Pain factor
None, bar some mild warmth. In fact, the sensation is more akin to a relaxing, hot stone massage in a spa.
Downtime
None whatsoever – no redness, no swelling, no indescribable itching. Carry on as you were.
Results
Admittedly, it’s not an overnight sensation – you’ll need a minimum of four treatments, spaced one month apart, to really notice a difference.
