Find Out Why You’re at Risk of Sun Damage – Even in December!

2nd December 2018

Over the past few years, it has become evident that leading a healthy lifestyle has become a top priority for many individuals globally. From dieting, exercising, pursuing passions, and being more conscious of appearances, it has paved the way for new and ingenious ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle to be developed. Worldwide, individuals are essentially looking for the ‘flawless healthy look’, thus the need to protect their skin.

Various factors contribute to the damage of the skin, sun damage being one of the main contributors, as when the direct solar radiation is not blocked by clouds, the UV light emitted from the sun’s rays penetrates the skin; therefore, in essence, can take a toll on the individual, causing effects such as sunburn, wrinkles and skin cancer. Even when we don’t feel the heat outdoors the sun’s strong ultraviolet rays can harm the skin all year round, making our skin just as prone to the chances of developing skin damage or skin cancer in the winter months as in the summer months.

It has been discussed that UVB radiation decreases during the winter months but dangerous UVA radiation is still in full force. Both UVA and UVB contribute to skin cancer however UVA is thought to play a more dramatic role in premature ageing. In order to ensure that the skin is sufficiently protected, many light protection serums have been developed to combat the ageing of the skin due to sun damage. Typically consisting of a spray, gel, or other topical products, light protection serums absorb or reflect the sun’s ultraviolet radiation, and thus help protect against sunburn

Sunlight continues to damage people’s skin and increases the risk of cancer for hours after the individual leaves the sunlight and head indoors, evidently increasing the need to apply an SPF serum even after being exposed to the sunlight.

As anyone who has ever undertaken laser or IPL treatment will know, the importance of protecting your skin from the sun prior and post-treatment is vital. This is why Lynton has worked on formulating our new, 5 star Boots rated LIGHT PROTECT SPF – uniquely designed to protect laser/IPL treated skin, as well as acting as perfect year-round protection.
