Dr Andrew Charlton (PhD)
Andy graduated with a 1st class degree in Physics and a D.Phil in Laser Physics from the Clarendon Laboratory in Oxford, prior to taking a NATO fellowship at JILA, University of Colorado. In 1989 Andy moved to Manchester University where he spent 5 years researching into medical applications of Erbium, Holmium, Neodymium YAG, and Pulsed Dye Lasers.
This expertise enabled him to found Lynton Lasers in 1994, and to bring the first Q-switched Nd:YAG aesthetic lasers and IPL systems to the UK market. Under Andy’s management, Lynton grew into a worldwide brand exporting to over 30 countries and employing 40 staff. In 2010 Andy resigned as Managing Director of Lynton and currently works as part-time Chairman of the Lynton Group.
Dr Jon Exley (PhD)
Jon’s interest in lasers began whilst studying physics both at the University of Leeds (UK) and the Université Joseph Fourier in Grenoble (France). Following graduation with a first class honours degree; he joined one of the UK’s leading medical laser research centres at the University of Manchester to undertake a PhD. research project sponsored by Lynton.
Following completion of his MBA from Manchester Business School, Jon was appointed Managing Director of Lynton and he is proud to have developed Lynton into the UK's leading supplier of Laser and IPL equipment offering innovative technology to a wide range of sectors including Aesthetics, Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, ENT Surgery and much more. Jon is also actively involved with wider industry matters and has recently been appointed to the External Advisory Board for the University Of Manchester Dept. Of Physics and holds the position of Honorary Secretary of the British Medical Laser Association (BMLA).
Dr Andrew J Berry (PhD)
Director & Company Secretary
One of the original founders of Lynton, Technical Director for most of its history, but more recently the director responsible for HR, QA, Compliance and introducing Surgical Lasers into the Lynton portfolio.
Born in Colne, Lancashire, educated at Oxford (BA, Physics), Southampton (PhD, Laser Physics) and Manchester (Post-doctoral Research, Laser Physics). Was responsible for the design and development of the company’s Paragon, Lumina and Luminette Systems.
Dr Samantha Hills (PhD)
Customer Services & Clinical Director
Before joining Lynton, Sam completed a first degree in Physics, followed by a PhD in Physics and Pharmaceutical Sciences, working in the field of light-responsive drug delivery. After graduation, Dr Hills continued to work at The University of Manchester in a Post-Doctoral research position.
Sam joined Lynton as a Clinical Specialist in 2002 and was appointed director in 2012. Sam is in charge of all aspects of Lynton Customer Services, including technical and clinical support, which is acknowledged as the best after-sales service within the industry. She is also the author and main lecturer of the industry-leading Lynton / University of Manchester Skin Laser courses and has been asked to contribute to a number of books on laser and light treatments. She has also published over 30 papers in a variety of medical and scientific journals.
In 2017 Sam was appointed an honorary lecturer in the Department of Musculoskeletal and Dermatological Sciences at the University of Manchester, in recognition for her on-going contribution to the University of Manchester’s 'Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine’ MSc course. She is also the laser/IPL Expert for BABTAC and is on the training faculty for the British Medical Laser Association.

With extensive Laser & IPL knowledge, Hayley has worked for many years as a business consultant with a range of practices from NHS to single room sites offering medical and aesthetic treatments. In doing so she has experience of all the common clinical and business challenges faced in today’s fast-moving cosmetic industry. Hayley is a renowned figure within the aesthetic industry, regularly holding talks and seminars on key business development practices
Dr Ben Dickinson (PhD)
Ben is responsible for managing Lynton’s Technology team whose role is designing, sourcing, developing and manufacturing exciting, high-quality products for Lynton customers. Ben studied BSc (Hons) Physics with Technological Physics at the University of Manchester before going on to complete a PhD in Applied Laser Physics.
